SHELLHAMMER DIRT TRACK – 2024 RULES MEETING OVERVIEW
GENERAL INFO:
There will be NO DUMPING OF OIL on the property of Shellhammer Dirt Track! Anyone caught dumping waste oil on the premises will be expelled and responsible for the clean-up.
FIGHTING / ARGUING among teams, parents, drivers, especially kids, will not be tolerated! Teams will be told to leave and not come back.
The BIG ROCKS / STONES that surfaced in the South pit have been broken up for a better traveling surface. Many of the holes have already been filled in and the rest of them should be taken care of prior to the opening of the season.
A FIBRE OPTIC SYSTEM is being installed as an upgrade to our scoring system.
We no longer have a TRACK PHONE. Should you need to reach us, please call either Dave or Brenda’s cell number.
We have on-line forms for RESERVED PARKING, DRIVER INFORMATION, and (new) TRACK RENTAL REQUESTS. You will find these forms in the “featured” tab listed near the top of our FaceBook page. ALL DRIVERS ARE REQUIRED to complete the Driver Information form.
There have been some price increases for 2024. Reserved Parking is $100 for one day or $175 for both days. Grandstand admission is $15. Pit Passes are $25.
The SPECTATOR PARKING area below the South Pit has been expanded. There should be NO parking issues as there is now plenty of parking areas for spectators.
We are currently seeking a MICRO TECH PERSON for Wednesday nights. This person must be available every Wednesday. Shellhammer Dirt Track will provide the needed tech tools if a qualified person is interested. Contact Dave.

April 10th is opening day for “wingless” Wednesday.
April 20th is opening day for “super” Saturday.
April 24th is the Carl Hess Memorial Tribute.
July 2nd is the Golden Hammer PART 1 including AllStar Slingshots, Junior Slingshots, and Stage 1 Modifieds.
July 3rd is the Golden Hammer PART 2 including 125 Micro Sprints, 270 Micro Sprints, and 600 Micro Sprints.
August 7th is the AllStar and Junior Slingshots Speedweek Race.
August 14th, 17th, and 21st Shellhammer Dirt Track is closed for vacation.
September 25th is the season finale for “wingless” Wednesday.
September 28th is the season finale for “super” Saturday.
November 16th is the Annual Awards Banquet.
CLASSES:
SATURDAY
There will be NO Senior Quad Limited class offered.

JuiceBox Division rules: Must be a Radio Flyer Ultimate Go-Kart, 24 Volt
NO Modifications, NO 2 seaters
o Safety Equipment includes: helmet, gloves, long pants (no shorts), long sleeve shirt/jacket (no short sleeve shirts), no flip flops or open toed shoes.
Clone 375 will be a bi-weekly class. AKRA guidelines, open clutch, any pipe.
Junior Sprints will run on Saturday nights only. This class is for ages 6-12 year olds. The engine is a Briggs and Stratton World Formula.
SLINGSHOTS – (both Saturday and Wednesday)
Only the driver and one other person is allowed in tech. Yelling and arguing from others outside of tech will not be tolerated and those people will be told to leave the track.
o Junior Slingshot weight increased to 710 lbs
o AllStar Slingshot
• Coil Spring 60, 80, 100 or 120 lb only. You can mix and match. One coil over spring maximum on front of car. Two springs per corner allowed in rear.
• Creative body rule: All teams are allowed to use a piece of 6” x 36" of .040 aluminum. Cut to any shape anywhere on the car. Must not be a safety hazard. Any questions on this, contact Jim Strouse.
Micro Sprints as mentioned in the General Info section, we are looking for a tech person.
MAXIMUM PISTON DISPLACEMENTS MICRO SPRINTS
125cc engine 8.24 cu. in. (or 135.00cc)
Carbureted 4-stroke 250 engine Max displacement 270cc
Fuel injection is permitted (the motor must remain stock bore and stroke and use OEM throttle bodie.
Engines that came from the factory with fuel injection must remain stock bore and stroke even if running carburetor.
2-stroke 250cc engine 16.4754 cu. in. (or 270cc)
4-stroke 450cc engine Carbureted 450 engines may run a max displacement of 486cc.
Fuel injected 450 engines must remain stock bore & stroke and must use the OEM throttle body modified for use with alcohol.
Engine that came from the factory with fuel injection must remain stock bore and stroke even if running a carburetor.
600 See the engine specifications defined by the U6SA for piston
displacement.
Stage 1 Modifieds NO rules changes
RULES:
DRIVER MUST STAY WITH HIS/HER CAR/KART AT ALL TIMES when in the infield. If car/kart is abandoned, the track workers are not responsible for getting it to your pit area. Walk-offs will be DISQUALIFIED. (excludes a driver that needed to go the the ambulance.)
There will be a specified area in the infield in which a car/kart must be inside of when the driver pulls off the racing surface or is towed off. This is for better safety of the drivers. Again, drivers must stay with their car/kart at all times.
A relief driver can be used ONE time per race season when a driver is injured. The points will follow the injured driver.
If the scorers / officials cannot read a car number on the car, the driver will be told via driver radio or by an official and will start at the rear of the field. This is mostly for track officials to make calls as to who is involved in a race accident/stoppage. It also helps us in the tower for scoring purposes. Panels or 8 ½ x 11 sheets of paper with 5” THICK numbers (black on white or white on black) on both sides of the upper rail on Micros.
Unsportsman-like conduct will include, but limited to, Unauthorized entering the track to argue with officials during or between races, intentionally striking another car/kart after competition (this includes on the track, the exit gate, scale and pit areas), unauthorized entry into the tower during a race event, and excessive speeding in the pit area.
The use or suspected use of alcohol or drugs in the pit areas or grandstand area by a spectator or driver or pit crew during a race event. a. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the pits at any time during the day’s racing schedule. No illegal drugs of any kind are permitted on Shellhammer Dirt Track Property at anytime. Any appointed official of the track and /or pit area is an extension of the Shellhammer Dirt Track’s authority and has the right to question anyone acting in an abnormal manner as the result of alcohol consumption or drug use. Anyone confirmed of such abuse will be immediately disqualified and be expelled from the day’s events, and may be subject to further actions.
EVERYONE MUST show wristband upon entry to the pit areas and grandstands. Diane, Michelle, and Carol will be checking this upon entry.
Saturday night – do not start engines until you are told to
When leaving the pit areas with your truck and trailer, remember the cars/4wheelers going on or off the track have the right of way
Raceceiver not working – check your raceceiver at least one or two races prior to entering your race on the track. If not working you will be disqualified and given no points. (If no longer working during the race, at least know who you were behind and fall into that spot.)
MUST have orange or black transponder pouches.
The MOVE OVER FLAG will no longer be given. If you are being overtaken by another car/kart, hold your line.
Summer Spectacular – If a regular driver (a driver who races ½ or more of the racing events leading up to the Spectacular) wins one of the “big” races, they will receive a $100 bonus.
